About Me

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. My very first memory is of myself sitting on the floor, surrounded by sheets of paper and colored pencils, when my grandfather returned from his medical practice with even more pencils just for me. Since then, drawing has been my most natural language.

As a teenager, I told my parents of my decision to become a painter. They encouraged me, while also suggesting I study architecture. That path gave me a deep understanding of proportion, structure, and space — knowledge that now intertwines with the expressive freedom of my painting.

After years of exploring charcoal, oil, and acrylic within the intense art world of Matanzas, I turned to zazen practice. I received monastic ordination and discovered in sumi-e the essence of simplicity: one brush, one ink, one stroke, one sheet of paper. The universe in simplicity.

Ultimately, my work seeks to capture the universe in a single brushstroke — to represent that life is always flowing, never static. That is why my painting embraces loose, gestural, and sensual strokes: traces of movement, impermanence, and presence.
